Buddha Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Lite ovanligt med samarbetsprojekt med USA men BOFORS skall tydligen ta fram vad jag fattar som nästa generation av BONUS granater tillsammans med Raytheon. /Ken ------ Från etsnews idag Raytheon Company has been awarded a $265.8 million U.S. Army contract modification that expands the capability of the Excalibur program to meet the war fighter needs of both the U.S. Army and Sweden. The contract modification merges the guidance development of Raytheon's on-going Excalibur program with the airframe concepts developed by Bofors Defence of Sweden, a subsidiary of United Defense Industries, as part of the U.S.-Swedish Trajectory Corrected Munitions (TCM) program. The revised Excalibur program responds to the need for precision-guided projectiles for the U.S. Army's Future Combat System Cannon (FCS-Cannon). The Excalibur program will be in a position to enhance the performance of near- term Army platforms, to respond to Objective Force indirect fire requirements, and to encompass unique operational requirements for Sweden, such as a 52- caliber cannon system being defined for the Swedish Army. Sweden has agreed to contribute $57 million to the Excalibur program. Both countries have signed a Memorandum of Agreement that will allow for a cooperative program between both Sweden and the U.S. Government. "The U.S. Navy and Army have continued to be closely coupled as we develop this new artillery capability," said Capt. Herb Hause, U.S. Navy ERGM program manager. "Our commonality working groups will continue to look for opportunities to align our needs and requirements across our program base. We fully expect the work now planned by Excalibur to feed back and benefit our on-going Navy programs." Quote
