Om kostnadsspiralen i F22-projektet mm. "That's because, two years ago, Congressional hearings over building more F-22s has led to the release of data about how much it costs, per flight hour, to maintain the aircraft. It's $44,000 per flight hour, compared to $30,000 per hour for the older F-15 that the F-22 is replacing. The F-22 per-hour cost is nearly twice what it is for the F-16. While it requires 19 man hours of maintenance for each F-16 flight hour, the F-22 requires 34 hours. The manufacturer originally said it would be less than ten hours. Most of this additional F-22 expense (and man hours) is for special materials and labor needed to keep the aircraft invisible to radar."

Basernas ingick i Operation Sepals vars mål var att spionera på tyska trupper och utföra sabotage. Baserna var bemannade med norska soldater och finansierades av nuvarande CIA. -

Varför via Ungern? Först sades det att skulle flygas direkt till Italien.

F-22 utsätts för kostnadsgranskning: Lawmakers already are facing the toughest budget negotiations in more than a decade, and the mood to trim the deficit is likely to remain. So at $718 million, the Air Force request to modernize the F-22 Raptor is a tempting line item in the Air Force budget. Even though Defense Secretary Robert Gates capped production of the aircraft in 2009, its acquisition woes were back in the spotlight this week. The U.S. Government Accountability Office recently tagged the Air Force as the biggest driver of cost overruns within the Defense Department, and a prime culprit within the Air Force was the F-22, Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) said during a House Appropriations defense subcommittee hearing March 31. He added that the fifth-generation fighter was benched during operations in Libya. "We're told it's because they're not close enough. Well, the whole idea was wherever they are they can get to where they need to be," Moran says. The real problem, he says, seems to be that the F-22 can't communicate with NATO or other U.S. planes, nor can it communicate with the ground to attack targets there. "Now that we've virtually gotten all of them, we're being told we can modernize them so we can use them," Moran says. "You have to wonder when it's going to be completed and when we're going to do this multi-function advanced datalink that will enable us to communicate with other planes." Air Force Chief of Staff Norton Schwartz says the F-22 was designed as the premier air-to-air fighter and the plan is to take it from its "niche" to a more expansive role. As for communicating, the F-22 will talk to other F-22s and it can talk with other aircraft that have Link 16 using the Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle as a "gateway." Schwartz says, "That is the near-term solution to this problem." As for the use of the F-22 in Libya, Schwartz says the mission came together so rapidly that they used primarily aircraft that were already in Europe.

Från bloggen Wiseman's Wisdoms: Intervjun i Studio Ett i P1 med försvarsministern och Urban Ahlin var skrämmande framförallt avseende den socialdemokratiska inställningen som gjort att svenska flygplan inte kommer att kunna ingripa för att försvara civila på marken. Intervjuare: "Vad händer om svenska piloter ser civila attackeras på marken?" Ahlin: "Då får man flyga därifrån. Fördelen med såna här flygplan är att det går mycket snabbt att förflytta sig och då kan flygplan från ett annat land komma och ingripa".

Problem med detta kanske löst nu: AviationWeek Länk A maintenance procedure that left excess oil in the lubrication system caused the March 9 in-flight dual generator failure on F-35A test aircraft AF-4. Maintenance documents have been amended to improve servicing procedures and all aircraft fitted with the affected alternate engine starter/generator (AES/G) have been cleared to return to flight, says the Joint Program Office in a statement released a few minutes ago. The statement says: "Previous maintenance procedures could allow a small amount of extra oil to remain within the generator following servicing. Under some conditions, the extra oil that is churning inside a narrow air gap within the AES/G could cause internal temperatures to increase. It was assessed that high temperatures led to the generator failures." Soon after the incident it was determined that only those aircraft with the newer AES/G design were affected. Those with the earlier engine starter/generator (ES/G) - F-35A CTOL test jets AF-1/2/3 and F-35B STOVL test jets BF-1/2/3/4 - were returned to flight on March 14. This latest action clears those with the AES/G - AF-4, BF-5, F-35C CV test jet CF-1 and the first two low-rate initial production aircraft AF-6 and 7.

Sverige betalade ca 600 000 kr/st. Sedan säljs de för ca 170 000 kr/st. Sannolikt renoverade av försvaret? Bra affär? Kunde de inte hamnat i Hemvärnet istället?!

Lika mycket overkill som B-2 då, som sägs ha använts över Libyen. De kanske ville ha F-22:an Combat proven. Men lättare att exportera blir den ju inte eftersom det är exportförbud på den. The F-22 can only connect with other F-22s via an intraflight data link, and can only receive, but not transmit, over the standard Link-16 data link found on most allied aircraft. Hade det inte räckt med en on/off knapp i F-22:an för Link-16 datalänken att sända med också. Hade väl inte varit så komplicerat kan man tycka.

Begränsningar gör att F-22 inte används i Libyen. På grund av detta: F-22 kan endast kontakt med andra F-22s via en intraflight datalänk, och kan bara ta emot men inte sända med den vanliga Link-16 datalänken som finns på de flesta allierade flygplan.
